  • For a long time the Django community has relied on sites like Digg, DZone, and my favorite Django Projects Community. The former are too generic for the rapidly growing yet dedicated Django community, while the latter lacked sufficient organization. Don’t get me wrong its great to get on Digg and the Django Project Community is an excellent, so I thought why not combine the two.

Django’s tipping point

  • Django seems to have reached its tipping point, that critical mass which will enable its momentum to skyrocket. Getting here took a while though; partially because of a lack of hype and partially due to Rails’ very prominent presence in the market. Now this well deserving framework has finally begun to be widely adopted and considered as a valid alternative to Rails, for agile web development.

WebFaction Hosting Is Awesome » Django Aware

  • I started using webfaction.com 3 months ago for my Django website hosting. I’ve deployed 3 sites to their servers in that time. Getting my first site up was a challenge because I didn’t have much experience setting up Django for Apache. Luckily WebFaction set up a forum that proved indispensible. Since then I have set up a new website in 10 minutes.

Goodbye WebFaction Django Hosting - A Reflection »
  • In Sites · Announcements  ·  By paul  ·  Aged 5 months  ·   1 Comments  ·  Details...
  • So the time has come for my Django projects to finally migrate to a dedicated server. The decision is mainly aimed at saving $7.50 a month. When I migrated Arkayne a few months back I kept my blog and other sites like JoostList on the WebFaction shared plan. Last week I migrated the remainder of my projects and scripts to the new server. Lets be clear, I do not work for WebFaction and I only post recommendations I believe in on my blog. So my final thoughts on WebFaction.
